In this winter camp, teachers with a wide range and background of teaching experiences prepared lessons and activities for the students to enhance their language abilities and provide them with an environment to develop a deep cultural understanding. These lessons included games, team building activities, and even a winter themed skiing adventure! The schedule for five days was full of a back to back mix of entertainment and bilingual education. Students start their day by learning vocabulary and useful phrases for a new game or team building exercise. Then they apply what they've learned through fun and playing. Afterwards, the momentum continues with singing and dancing. Each day in the classroom also includes a story time. When story time is finished, it's back to games and activities. The mid week trip to the Little Ding Dong Science Park mixed up the routine and delighted the students to an indoor ski slope. This featured a ski lesson and up to an hour to practice. On the agenda for Friday students had a chance to cook a snack! Classmates helped each other by trading roles and participating in cooking and preparing Portuguese tuna crepes. Each day is concluded by writing in journal which allowed the students to reflect on the substantial and constructive use of their time during this winter break.
